Koras Robotics was founded by the members of Intelligent Robotics Lab. at Korea University in June 2022, based on various robotics technologies developed at the lab. and shared with more than 20 companies over the past 10 years. The business offers many robotics solutions as follows.

Firstly, Koras Robotics offers an innovative tooling solution. The so-called KR-tooling system consisting of an automatic tool changer (ATC) and other compatible tools. Since the drivable ATC with its built-in driving part provides power to all tools, individual tools do not need to have their own driving parts, so they can be manufactured at low cost. It also provides an AI tooling function that recognizes a target object and selects the appropriate tool and tool grasp pose for the object. A diverse lineup of tools includes 2-finger, 3-finger, vacuum, parallel, chuck, vice, bowl and tweezers grippers, and user-customized tools are also available.

Secondly, Koras Robotics offers robotic solutions. The company has all of the HW, SW, and various components required for the design and control of industrial robots such as collaborative robots and service robots such as medical robots. Amon these, there is a counterbalance mechanism built into a cobot to improve payload and energy efficiency. Since 2010, the company have provided customized robotic arms to more than 20 companies, including large domestic companies, in the form of technology transfer or industrial consulting. In addition to developing the robot arms, the company provides businesses with various solutions for robot arm use, such as training on robot design and control, transfer of know-how, licensing of parts technology, and robot-based task technology. In addition to development services, the company can also produce robot arms in an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) basis when necessary.

Thirdly, Koras Robotics offers system solutions. The company provides 3D bin picking solutions based on RGB-D sensors, machine tending solutions for CNC lathes and machining centers, and cooking automation solutions based on its robot and KR-tooling system. Furthermore, it provides precision assembly solutions for mechanical and electronic components based on impedance control, force sensors, AI techniques, and self-developed algorithms.
